At Redcliffe Dental Practice, we appreciate that our patients want to be offered treatments which are fast, effective, and convenient.

This is why the traditional method of providing crowns no longer suits many of our clients’  lifestyles. Until recently, if you needed a crown we would have to prepare the area, take an impression (mould) and fit you with a temporary crown while your permanent one was crafted in a dental lab. About two weeks after your initial appointment, you would return to have your permanent crown fitted.

Crowns can make a noticeable difference to your smile

But now we can provide you with a long-lasting and extremely realistic crown, with no temps or impressions, thanks to our sophisticated new CEREC technology.

The first step is to prepare your tooth for the crown, and take a digital image of the area. This image is displayed on the computer, and is used to plan, on the computer, the work we will do. You will see everything that is happening on the screen.

We then put the appropriate ceramic material in our milling machine, and the computer programme sends it instructions – your crown is made as you watch!
All we need to do then is to fit it – you are left with a beautifully strong and natural-looking crown – and an enhanced smile on your face!

We can also use the CEREC machine to provide white-coloured fillings – the process is more or less the same as the process for crowns, and conserves more of the natural tooth than a traditional filling.

Redcliffe’s CEREC expert is our principal dentist Rosie Steere – to find out more about CEREC and whether it would be suitable for your teeth, please book a consultation with her.
