Children's dentistry

Children are always welcome at Redcliffe Dental Practice. Your children's teeth are just as susceptible to decay and other problems as adults' teeth are. We feel it is important to show your children how to care for their teeth from an early age, so they can enjoy having healthy teeth for life.

Seeing a dentist regularly is very important. You should start to bring your child with you to appointments from an early age, even before their teeth have come through, so they can get used to the sights, smells and sounds of the practice.

One they have their own teeth, we need to see them regularly for their own check-ups so we can keep a close eye on how their teeth are developing, and spot any potential issues early on. We can also advise on other issues such as orthodontics (tooth straightening).

Our hygienists, Julee and Gill provide excellent preventive care for children, helping them with brushing and also giving dietary advice. Advice about avoiding food and drinks that cause decay and acid erosion when teeth are more vulnerable, helps our children and teenagers to protect their teeth against these problems. When appropriate, topical fluoride applications and fissure sealants (tooth coloured sealants) are applied to the biting surfaces to help prevent decay.  All this is done in a professional, yet friendly, caring and relaxed way, on a one to one basis.

All check-ups are free up to the age of three. After that we offer Denplan Excel for a small monthly fee which provides all your child's dental care including all their treatments.
