Redcliffe Welcomes one of the UK’s Leading Specialist Oral Surgeons

In August, Redcliffe Dental Practice proudly welcomed Dr. Kathryn Taylor to its esteemed Specialist Team.

Dr. Kathryn Taylor is recognised as one of the leading Oral Surgeons in the United Kingdom. She holds the honorary position of Consultant in Oral Surgery at the University of Liverpool, and we are incredibly thrilled and honored to have her join our practice.

Dr. Taylor’s journey in dentistry began with her qualification from the University of Sheffield in 1993, followed by vocational training in the York Scheme the following year. She then embarked on her training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and earned a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 1997. Her passion for research led her to complete a PhD in wound healing from the University of Leeds in 2007. Dr. Taylor has developed a specialisation in managing anxious patients and obtained a Diploma in Conscious Sedation from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2000. She was officially included in the Specialist List for Oral Surgery in 2000, and her formal training was concluded with success in the Intercollegiate Fellowship Specialty Examination (ISFE oral surgery) in 2013. Throughout her career, she has worked in hospitals across the Yorkshire region and currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer (honorary Consultant) at the University of Liverpool, where she contributes to undergraduate education in medical emergency management, sedation, and oral surgery.

At Redcliffe Dental Practice, Dr. Taylor will be running a fortnightly Oral Surgery and Sedation Clinic, focusing on surgical treatments for disorders of the teeth, mouth, and jaws. This includes procedures such as surgical removal of wisdom teeth, buried or impacted teeth, pre-prosthetic/implant surgery, and management of abnormalities of the soft tissues of the mouth, lips, and facial skin. Additionally, she provides support to dentists in treating nervous patients who require sedation.

Patients experiencing issues with their wisdom teeth can schedule a consultation by contacting our reception at 01513363012. Referring dentists can also refer patients directly to Dr. Taylor using our online referral form. We are delighted to offer the expertise of Dr. Kathryn Taylor and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our patient’s oral health and well-being.
